The theme of the 2013 Grassroots Sport and Community Leaseholders Summit was ‘change’. Since our last summit in 2011, there has been a state and local government election, which led to multiple changes in state legislation and Council policies.
The day was mostly spent discussing the impacts on our grassroots sports and community leaseholders. Key topics discussed included:
- Leaseholder Sustainability Framework
- Leased Facility Asset Management Plans
- Community Facility Contribution Grants
- Sport Sustainability & Facility Plans
- Changes to processes and fees
Interactive sessions were also included on the agenda with a focus on developing strategic and operational plans, budgets and project management plans.
This years summit was held at the new Upper Coomera Centre and was well attended with over 120 people registering for the event. Attendees included City of Gold Coast community leaseholders, regional and state bodies and local and state government officers and 94% of those advised in their evaluation forms they would attend future summits.
