Go green with NaturallyGC.  Gold Coast City Council's NaturallyGC Program has some great activities running throughout the year.

The NaturallyGC workshops are free sessions designed for educating people interested in exploring our unique and diverse Gold Coast environment. The workshops cover a range of topics including discovering Coombabah Lakelands and reptile awareness.

Guided bush walk- Burleigh Ridge

Presenter - Natural Areas Ranger, Gold Coast City Council

This guided walk through Burleigh Ridge Reserve will explore Eucalypt forest types that are home to koalas, brushtail possums, grey-headed flying foxes and many bird species. Refresh your plant identification skills while enjoying this diverse ecological area. A moderate walk with a good level of fitness required.  Activity suitable for ages 12 and above.

Native stingless bees

Presenter - Tim Heard, CSIRO

Australian native bees can be many colours of black, yellow, red, metallic green or even black with blue polka dots. They can be fat and furry, or sleek and shiny. Native bees are also key pollinators of Australia’s unique wildflowers and are a critical part of our Australian bushland.  Activity is not suitable for children.

Preparing for bushfires

Presenter - Len Jeavons, Bushfire education officer for Queensland Fire and Rescue Service

Fire management requires a delicate balance between safeguarding human life and property and promoting the health and conservation of biodiversity including the protection of sensitive ecosystems, cultural sites and historical assets. This informative session will educate you about fire ecology and how to prepare your property and family for bushfire season. Activity suitable for ages 12 and above.
